Wednesday February 8, 2006
The Olympic committee in charge of organizing the Torino, Italy games announced they have hired 150 female cheerleaders. The young women range in age from 15 to 26 and will cheer for ice hockey, speedskating and skiing events. They will perform to a mix of popular Italian music that includes American cheerleading choreography. Their cheerleading uniforms will consist of a traditional outfit for indoor events and for outdoor events they will add hats and moon boots.
"We wanted to find a way to warm up the public for this international event," said Roberto Zamboni, the chief of support and production for the organizing committee.
