Paula Abdul Signed to do Cheerleading Reality Show
Monday August 4, 2008
It's being rumored that Paula Abdul has signed a contract with FOX to do a yet unnamed cheerleading competition reality show. One source says it will center around cheerleading camps and another says it will feature professional cheerleaders. Either way, I'll keep you updated. Also how do you feel about all the mainstream media attention on cheerleading? Do you think it helps cheerleading's image or harms it? Leave a comment below.

help it of course. i really hope this show happens. and if paula cannot make a cheerleading show a hit, then nobody can. she is The cheerleader
The media does not help cheerleading in the long run. Negative publicity far outweights the positive stories in movies, TV and the press. People remember the negative much longer than the positive and it’s what is discussed in class, at work, at the dinner table.
Everyone knows that reality shows are cut/edited and drama is created for better TV ratings. I urge you to do whatever you can to stop the production of a cheerleading series that will not be taken seriously.
Finally it should not be a story about competition. A story was already done on Dunbar HS and even that was “edited”. Cheerleading is about raising school spirit, helping your community, academics, supporting all your teams and building traditions – let’s see a show that portrays this image. If you want to see competition…watch ESPN when the cheer nationals are on air.
