Forum Post - Male Cheerleader Needs Advice

"Okay...So, I've always wanted to be a cheerleading but growing up in a small town in North Carolina (U.S.) It's hard, and people kind of look down on it. But, now I'm in College with absolutely no cheerleading experience, and I'm very nervous. I went to Open Gym today, and I'm good with my jumps, I'm slowly catching on to my chants, but stunting and tumbling... Not so much! L0l. I'd love to keep cheering...So, I need advice on how to handle stunts, and although tumbling in my opinion isn't as necessary... Any advice on tumbling. But, I'm a heavier guy, and I've lost over 60 lbs in the past 5 months for cheerleading... I really want to make the squad...So, College Cheerleading Tips..." - Seanie_Poo

Make sure you smile, and sinse your a guy be loud. Also make every move sharp, not stiff. People get that mixed up. For stunting just dont bend your back and tighten your arms. Most likely you’d be a backspotter or Base. For tumbling, your right it isnt THAT nesseccary but deffinetly when you about to tumble tighten your arms and never bend your knee’s.
