Best Cheerleading Coach Contest

Official Rules

You don’t need to buy anything to enter. You must live in the United States or Canada to play. However, you can’t play if you live in Florida or Quebec or if it’s illegal to play where you live.

1. TO ENTER.

There are two ways to play:

    To enter the sweepstakes online, go to the Entry Form page on The About Cheerleading site and click on the “Best Cheerleading Coach Contest” link. Follow the instructions on the Web page. If you are under the age of 18, you will be asked to provide your parent’s or legal guardian’s e-mail address so that we can get their permission for you to continue to play.     If you don’t want to play over the Internet, but still want to enter the sweepstakes, send your name, address, phone number, e-mail address (if any), and age handwritten on an index card, and a note from your parents stating that you are allowed to enter the sweepstakes, in an envelope to: “Cheerleading Site - Best Coach Contest” Sweepstakes, c/o About.com, Inc., 220 E. 42nd Street, 13th Floor, New York, NY 10017. Entries that are not written by hand will not be entered. If we can’t read your entry, or you have not filled it out all the way, we cannot enter you.

You play by posting ONE message to the About Cheerleading forum and filling out only one entry form, whether you enter by mail or over the Internet. We are not responsible for any telephone connection problems, electrical or computer problems, or if you enter your information wrong, or for entries that are stolen, sent to the wrong place, delayed by computer problems, lost, late, damaged, or postage due. All entries become our property. We will not let you know we receive it and we will not return it to you. All entries over the Internet must be received before 11:59 PM Eastern Time on Monday, September 24, 2001. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by Monday September 24, 2001 and received by Tuesday September 27, 2001. People entering the promotion through the Internet must be using their own e-mail address.

2. SELECTION OF WINNER AND WHO CAN PLAY.

The winner will be slected based on a post made to the About Cheerleading Forum in the time frame of 10:00 AM EST Sunday August 12, 2001 to Midnight EST Monday September 24, 2001. The posts will be judged to determine the top five entries. When the top five entries have been established, a poll will be made available for one week where everyone can cast a vote to select a winner. We are not responsible for any discrepencies between the Delphi total and any manually calculated total made from counting actual votes on the board. If there is a difference between any other total and the Delphi total, the Delphi total will be taken as the official count. Winners will be required to sign and return legal documents to us within 14 days after we notify you if you have won. If the prize is won by someone under 18, the affidavit will need to be filled out by a parent or legal guardian. If we try to send you the paper work and it get sent back to us, or if you don’t meet these requirements, you will not receive a prize and another winner will be chosen at random from the rest of the entries. If you, your parents, your children, your husband or wife, sister or brother or their wife or husband works for About.com or any of its subsidiaries, its advertising and promotion agencies, you can not play. Peer Advisory Volunteers are not excluded but can not play using their Advisor ID.

3. PRIZES.

The prize is a small Cheerleading Sports bag from Spiritwear valued at up to $25US for the person that entered and a Cheer Coach tshirt valued up to $15US for the coach. If you do not use the full value in your purchase you will forfeit the remaining funds. You can’t trade your prizes for other prizes and you can’t take money instead of your prize. All taxes and all other expenses that go along with receiving and or use of the prize are the winner’s responsibility.

4. DISCLAIMER.

Winners are responsible if they get hurt, cause damage, or claim that something bad happened to them because they took part in this game, accepted and or used the prize and release About.com, their officers, directors, and employees, from any such responsibility. We and our agencies do not take responsibility for any injury or damage to the people entering or any one else or to their property that is computer related or if it happens while entering or downloading materials or software that is related to the promotion. We and our agencies are not responsible for any computer problems or if you lose your connection with the Internet while participating in this sweepstakes or if you make a mistake yourself while entering. When you enter, you allow us (except when it is against the law) to use your name, city, state, likeness and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without getting paid if you are a winner.

5. ADDITIONAL RULES

Many people will enter this promotion, but only one will win a prize (the odds of winning depend on the number of people who enter). This sweepstakes is sponsored by Valerie Ninemire, c/o About.com, Inc., 1440 Broadyway, 20th Floor, New York, NY 10017 We reserve the right to stop the sweepstakes and award the prize or prizes from among entries received before the final count as scheduled. Entrants agree to follow these Official Rules and by the decisions of the judges, whose decisions are final. If you do not follow these rules, you may be disqualified from this promotion. We reserve the right to not let someone play if they have purposely not followed the rules.

6. MINOR POLICY FOR ENTRY

Children under 18 must provide their parent of legal guardian’s e-mail address. About.com will notify the parent or legal guardian if the child wins a prize and will send a parental permission form. We’ll need to have this – please take a stab at this. In order to receive the prize, the parent or legal guardian must send to us by fax to the fax number indicated, a completed parental permission form within 14 days of receiving the notification. If we do not receive this form back within 14 days signed by a parent or legal guardian of a child under 18, we will not award the prize to that child.

7.  WINNERS LIST

For a list of winners (available after October 8, 2001 visit About Cheerleading or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to be received by October 1, 2001 to: “Cheerleading Site - Chain Game Forum Contest” Forum Contest Winners, c/o About.com, Inc., 1440 Broadway, 20th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
