I cheer for the Super All Star squad of Gurnee, Illinois. My coach, Derik Ramel is far from your average coach. While most of you are praising your coaches for pushing you and your squad to your limits to achieve your highest goals, I am praising my coach for his enforcement of the heart of competing. While many coaches lead winning teams to more trophies, Derik creates an atmosphere of life long friendships and memories shared. His all star program is based on a belief that cheerleading isn't about proving an audience we are the best or defending titles. It's the experience that matters. Our squad took second place in the WCA Nationals in the Senior Elite and Co-ed Elite divisions last year. But it's not the trophy I remember most. It's the feeling of coming together as Super All Stars and showing the cheerleading world what we were made of. I am so proud to have him as a coach for experience he's offered me and the lessons he's taught that I will carry with me throught my life. He's the heart and soul of cheerleading. He's what being a coach is about- winning experiences, memories and lessons to last a lifetime.

Debbie’s the best coach ever. Everyone looks up to her. She used to be a coach for a college once. I live in a small town and if it weren’t for her we wouldn’t even have cheerleaders. She helps us so much. When doing warm-ups, she does them with us and makes sure we’re doing them right. She encourages us to work hard and to believe in our self. She has such great spirit ideas too. In my county it’s very rare for Junior Varsity Squads to be doing stunts, but because she took a special coarse on stunting we get to do it. She helps out on lifting and makes sure everyone gets a chance to go up. So even me, someone who’s not the skinniest person in the world gets to fly. We also get to cheer at away games. Our school doesn’t have enough money to pay for our rides to the games so Deb brings us all up to the game. I give her a lot credit on that because we aren’t the quietest bunch of girls to ride with! She also spends her extra time with you to learn new material. When my friend was going to miss 10 practices, Deb gave up her free nights to work with her so she could cheer at the first game. We also got to go to competition. That’s something no one in our school has ever done before! Debbie is a great person and a great coach.

My coach is the best. We are new so we are just starting out working with each other. She lets us control our team. We get to give input and suggestions. She is very creative and has a lot of excellent ideas that we use. The fact that we are a new school and that we are cheering with new members, will give us a lot of conflicts and problems. Some of the girls on my squad have never cheered before. Mrs. Gladney came up with a rule that we will have just team meetings on Friday so we can let our disagreements surface. My old coach just wanted my team to win, win, win and push us so hard. Bacially, Mrs. Gladney is the best coach because she listens and understands.

I think my cheer coach is the best and she deserves some honor for it. Shes at every practice no matter what, she always has a new movement or cheer to teach us, she makes sure we smile at every game and practice, she always has a new stretch every week to improve our jumps and overall strength, and she always brings water and bug spray at every game and practice. My coach has brung my team closer together and she has brought us closer to her. Shes always open for suggestions and is there when we need her, not only for cheerleading but for personal problems too. She deserves something in return for all shes done for me and my team. Shes not only taught us to just cheer but shes taught us to cheer like we mean it, with power, strength, and heart. Please pick my coach, my team loves her and i hope u can love her and show you love her by picking her. Thank you in advance!

My coach is the best coach ever because shes not only a coach but shes a friend and a mother. If we have trouble in school she'll be there helping us out, whether it be tutoring, or convincing the teacher to give us extra homework. When boy troubles come along she'll always give you advise and will help you get through any break-up. She'll keep all your secrets and she'll take up for her girls no matter what. In practice she'll always be there to give the extra boost to those in need. And even though she's an older coach she'll step in and be a backspot or a base whenever she is needed. If a flyer is to fall their is no dought that you'll be landing right on mrs. D. She tops the whole thing off by letting us and eveyone eles know that shes proud of us, by wearing a sweatshirt with our squad picture on it with the title "my girls" written across the top to every game.
