Cheerleading Scavenger Hunt Contest
OFFICIAL RULES
You dont need to buy anything to enter. You must live in the United States or Canada to play. However, you cant play if you live in Florida or Quebec or if its illegal to play where you live.
1. TO ENTER
To enter the contest online, go to the Entry Form page on The About Cheerleading site and click on the Cheerleading Contest link. Follow the instructions on the Web page. If you are under the age of 18, you will be asked to provide your parents or legal guardians e-mail address so that we can get their permission for you to continue to play. See Cheerleading Contest for how to play.
You play by sending in an entry with the correct answers to the questions posted on the contest page. You can find all the answers either on the About Cheerleading site or in the forum. See our How to Play page for more detailed instructions. We are not responsible for any telephone connection problems, electrical or computer problems, or if you enter your information wrong, or for entries that are stolen, sent to the wrong place, delayed by computer problems, lost, late, damaged, or postage due. All entries become our property. We will not let you know we receive it and we will not return it to you. All entries over the Internet must be received before 11:59 PM Eastern Time on Wedneday, May 31, 2006. People entering the promotion through the Internet must be using their own e-mail address.
2. SELECTION OF WINNER AND WHO CAN PLAY
The winner will be selected based on the number of correct answers and drawn randomly. You can enter as many times as you want within the time frame of Sunday, April 16, 2006 at 12:00 am EST to Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 11:59 PM EST. Winners will be required to sign and return legal documents to us within 14 days after we notify you if you have won. If the prize is won by someone under 18, the affidavit will need to be filled out by a parent or legal guardian. If we try to send you the paper work and it gets sent back to us, or if you dont meet these requirements, you will not receive a prize and another winner will be chosen at random from the rest of the entries. If you, your parents, your children, your husband or wife, sister or brother or their wife or husband works for About.com or any of its subsidiaries, its advertising and promotion agencies, you can not play. Peer Advisory Volunteers are not excluded but can not play using their Advisor ID.
3. PRIZES
The prizes are two rhinestone cheer megaphone shirts donated by JustJen and valued at up to $33.90 US eac. If you do not use the full money in your prize you will forfeit the remaining funds. You cant trade your prizes for other prizes and you cant take money instead of your prize. All taxes and all other expenses that go along with receiving and or use of the prize are the winners responsibility.

Sponsor is not responsible for lost or mutilated prizes and none will be replaced.
Prize is nontransferable and must be accepted as awarded. No cash or other substitution
may be made, except by Sponsor in the event that the prize cannot be awarded
for any reason, in which case, Sponsor will award a prize of equal or greater
value. All taxes, fees and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility
of winner.
4. DISCLAIMER
Winners are responsible if they get hurt, cause damage, or claim that something bad happened to them because they took part in this game, accepted and or used the prize and release About.com, their officers, directors, and employees, from any such responsibility. We and our agencies do not take responsibility for any injury or damage to the people entering or any one else or to their property that is computer related or if it happens while entering or downloading materials or software that is related to the promotion. We and our agencies are not responsible for any computer problems or if you lose your connection with the Internet while participating in this sweepstakes or if you make a mistake yourself while entering. When you enter, you allow us (except when it is against the law) to use your name, city, state, likeness and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without getting paid if you are a winner.
5. MISCELLANEOUS RULES
Many people will enter this promotion, but only a few will a prize (the odds of winning depend on the number of people who enter). This contest is sponsored by Valerie Ninemire, c/o About.com, Inc., 249 West 17th Street, New York, NY 10011. We reserve the right to stop the contest and award the prize or prizes from among entries received before the final count as scheduled. Entrants agree to follow these Official Rules and by the decisions of the judges, whose decisions are final. If you do not follow these rules, you may be disqualified from this promotion. We reserve the right to not let someone play if they have purposely not followed the rules. All entries become the sole property of Sponsor(s) and none will be returned. In the event of a dispute, entries made by Internet will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. The "authorized account holder" is deemed the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, service provider or other online organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. A potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsor(s) with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, human error or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor(s) reserve(s) the right in [its/their] sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor(s) on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, any combination thereof, or otherwise, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Contest. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, stolen, or misdirected entries. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR(S) RESERVE(S) THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
6. MINOR POLICY FOR ENTRY
Children under 18 must provide their parent of legal guardians e-mail address. About.com will notify the parent or legal guardian if the child wins a prize and will send a parental permission form. Well need to have this please take a stab at this. In order to receive the prize, the parent or legal guardian must send to us by fax to the fax number indicated, a completed parental permission form (affidavit) within 14 days of receiving the notification. If we do not receive this form back within 14 days signed by a parent or legal guardian of a child under 18, we will not award the prize to that child.
7. OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Potential winners and any guests who will share in the prize will each be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release, and where lawful, a Publicity Release, within fourteen (14) days of notification, failing which the potential winner will be disqualified and another winner selected in the place of the disqualified person at random from all entries received. If any prize or prize notification is returned as non-deliverable, the potential winner will be disqualified and another potential winner will be selected in the original potential winner's place. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees that the Sponsor(s) and those acting under the Sponsor's authority, may use winner's name, picture/portrait likeness and/or voice, for advertising and promotional purposes without further consideration, unless prohibited by law. BY ACCEPTING THE PRIZE, THE WINNER AGREES THAT THE SPONSOR(s), ITS SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES, AND ALL OF THE SPONSOR'S OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS, WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR, AND WILL BE HELD HARMLESS BY WINNER FOR ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURY, LOSS OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND TO PERSONS, INCLUDING DEATH, AND PROPERTY, DUE IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE OR MISUSE OF THE PRIZE OR PARTICIPATION IN THIS SWEEPSTAKES OR PARTICIPATION IN ANY CONTEST OR PRIZE RELATED ACTIVITY.
