The List
by Allie
It was my first
year trying out
for my schools Cheerleading squad.
Surrounded by these Cheerleaders,
I felt out of place and odd.
I learned the dance,
I learned the chant
And I learned how to cheer.
I practiced it over and again;
I overcame my fear.
In front of a panel
of judges
I solely gave my all.
I felt like I was flying,
I hoped I wouldn't fall.
and then the list
was posted
of the people who would win.
I wanted it so badly,
I wanted to be in!
I quickly looked
at this paper
and barely took a glance.
Then I searched right through it,
praying for a chance.
A bullet shot right
through me
My eyes began to stare.
And on the list I clearly saw,
that my name was not there.
If it doesn't kill
you, it makes you strong;
a wise man had once said.
but reading that list, without my name,
I just about felt dead.
