With the growing popularity of e-mail, snail mail is almost becoming a thing of the past. When is the last time you actually wrote a letter to a friend, put it in an envelope, stuck a stamp on it, and mailed it off? Chances are you use an e-mail or instant message program to socialize and communicate with family or friends. Because of the convenience and ease of such programs, they also make an ideal way to converse with pen pals.

The Internet has no boundaries, it can bring you together with people from every corner of the world. You can share you experiences, likes and dislikes, all from the comfort of your home.

With this in mind, we've started a new section in the About Cheerleading forum for finding Cheerleader pen pals. Here you can post your e-mail address, tell us your favorite color, what music you like, and find other Cheerleaders to exchange ideas and information with. Have you ever wondered what Cheerleading was like in another country? Do you think they use the same cheers and chants you do? They may even cheer for a sport you're not familiar with. So, here's your chance to find all that out and more.

Be sure to read these safety and netiquette tips below before you begin:

  • Never give out your last name, address, phone number, or personal information over the Internet.
  • Never arrange to meet someone in person.
  • If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, tell your parents.
  • Never give out a credit card number in an e-mail.
  • Never share your passwords with anyone.
  • If anyone says anything in an e-mail message that is in any way threatening or inappropriate, tell your parents.
  • Don't send large attachments in e-mail. Tell the recipient before you send an attachment, so they know it's coming.
  • Don't use large signature files.
  • Don't send money.

Ready now? Let's get started. Have fun and be safe!
