What could be better than cheering and getting a paycheck for it? Sounds too good to be true? Well, it's not. As the summertime nears, Cheerleaders have the opportunity to travel, cheer, meet new people, and get paid as camp instructors or assistants.

But, before you run out to apply, here are a few guidelines to consider:

• Read the requirements. Most companies require you to be at least 18 years or older. There may be other requirements too, like CPR and first aid.
• Check your calendar. Make sure you don't have other commitments at the time you'll be needed to work.
• Get the necessary paperwork. Fill out the applications completely. Line up references. Principals, coaches, and teachers all make excellent job references.
• Brush up on your communication skills. It is important that instructors know how to communicate with others.
• Be professional. Although being a camp instructor sounds like all fun and games, it is a job, so act in a professional manner.
• Ask yourself these questions - Do you like kids? Can you get along with others in your age group? What about people older or younger? How well do you interact with people? Do you have a good fundamental knowledge of Cheerleading? Do you like to teach? Are you willing to work hard? If you answered "no" to any of these, don't bother applying.

The requirements, deadlines, and application process can vary from company to company.
