MediaTrip.com, an online entertainment company, is working with Revolution Studios to cast 3 Cheerleading squads in their upcoming teen comedy, "The New Guy". The top 30 squads will be asked to submit a video of a "New Guy" cheer. From those 30 squads, the producers/director will select the winning 3 teams.

If you are part of a high school or college Cheerleading squad, have at least eight members, and want to have your team featured in a major motion picture, they are waiting to hear from you.

Here are some of the basic tryout requirements from their site:

  • To enter MediaTrip.com's Cheerleading Squad Contest, register your high school or college Cheerleading squad for the contest between 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, September 13, 2000 and 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, October 13, 2000.
  • Entrants must complete team questionnaire and submit all required registration information.
  • This Contest is open to all high school and college Cheerleading squads who are legal residents of the continental United States.
  • Squads have to appear to have a minimum of eight (8) team members who appear to be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • In the event that your squad is selected as one (1) of the thirty (30) final squads, you must produce MediaTrip.com with no less than a five (5) and no more than a ten (10) minute video of a performance by your squad, to include; a cheer of your squads selection and a "New Guy" cheer.
  • No one under the age of sixteen is eligible to enter this contest or to win a prize.

With the recent popularity of "Bring it On", another Cheerleading movie, this is an ideal time to showcase your Cheerleading squad. See the competition and cast a vote for your favorite team.

Good luck to all the teams that try out and let us know how you do!
