3,000 Cheerleaders & Dancers Vying For The Gold
MINNEAPOLIS – Over 3,000 athletes will be arriving in Minneapolis this weekend (February 19th – 21st) for the 2010 UPA AmeriCup Cheer & Dance National Championship. They will compete against the countries best, along with teams from Canada & Mexico, during the four-day event. Minnesota will be represented by 20 teams, all vying for the Gold Medal and the National Title.
Minneapolis-base United Performing Association, Inc. (UPA), the nation’s leading cheer and dance event producers, is the organizer for this extraordinary competition. UPA has been organizing cheer and dance events since 1987, giving Minnesota teams and athletes around the country an opportunity to compete on national and international levels.
Teams qualify for this major competition by one of three ways: winning a state competition, receiving a Regional Director bid or earning a bid via video tape submission which is evaluated by UPA’s certified judging panel. The talent level and athletic ability of these attendees is amazing.
All competition takes place at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Friday through Sunday, February 19-21, 2010. Tickets are available at the door. Competition runs from 7 am to 7 pm each day.
If you would like to schedule an interview with one of the local Minnesota teams or have them appear in the background for a PSR announcement, please call Rachel Medina at UPA at (763) 792-8989 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Press credentials are available for the event by contacting Rachel prior to the competition. Press passes and media packets can be picked up at the Information Table at the Hilton Hotel on the 3rd floor.
