From Our Mailbag - A Cheer Blessing

Thursday August 14, 2008
Christopher, the coach/manager of the St. Bede's cheerleaders, sent me the following email and I wanted to share it with all of you. "We find all sorts of useful things on About.com Cheerleading. Our squad thought you might be interested in this blessing we put together for the night before our first competition. It is loosely based on a Celtic Blessing from around 1000AD."

Cheerleaders' Blessing
Christ above, so we can fly
Christ below, to lift us up
Christ in front, to protect us
Christ behind, to catch us
Christ on the left, to shout for us
Christ on the right, to cheer us
Christ within, to make us strong!
Amen

The St. Bede's cheerleaders are a junior squad from St Bede's (Church) School in Redhill, Surrey, England (about 20 miles south of London). They have been in existence since September 2007.

Does your squad have a "Cheer" ritual? What about a special saying that is inspirational or motivating? Share it Here.
